Bishwakarma R, et al. - The impact of metformin on health care utilizations in patients with coexisting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes mellitus (DM) was assessed in this study. In this patient population, metformin use was shown to be related to fewer COPD-specific emergency room (ER) visits and hospitalizations, specifically in low-complexity COPD.
