Metformin in gestational diabetes mellitus: Predictors of poor response

Gante I, et al. - Predictors of poor response to metformin in gestational diabetes mellitus were identified. Insulin supplementation was not correlated with poor neonatal outcomes although about 35% of women did not achieve adequate glycemic control with metformin. As per the outcomes, higher age, higher pre-pregnancy BMI and earlier introduction of metformin could be used as predictors of poor response to metformin.
