Metformin for prevention of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in women with gestational diabetes or obesity: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials
Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology Nov 11, 2018
Kalafat E, et al. - Researchers performed this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials to determine the influence of metformin use on the incidence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). Searching MEDLINE (1947 to September 2017), Scopus (1970 to September 2017) and the Cochrane Library (inception to September 2017), they included only randomized controlled trials on metformin use, reporting the incidence of pre-eclampsia or pregnancy-induced hypertension. Analysis revealed a high probability of achieving reduced HDP incidence in correlation with metformin use when compared with other treatments or placebo.
