Vallone MG, et al. - This trial aspired to inspect the impact of melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) polymorphisms on the nevus phenotype. During this research the existence of a positive link was unveiled between the loss-of-function MC1R variants (“R”) MC1R variants and visible vessels in nevi, dots and globules in nevi, nevi with eccentric hyperpigmentation, a high degree of freckling and an associative trend with the presence of blue nevi. Therefore, it was determined that the MC1R gene possibly affected the nevus phenotype.
