Bulloch RE, et al. - Experts studied the impact of maternal folic acid supplementation during pregnancy on the risk of preeclampsia and gestational hypertension through a systematic review and meta-analysis. They searched multiple scientific databases and grey literature for relevant studies. According to pre-specified inclusion and exclusion criteria, studies were reviewed. They found low level evidence for a modest relationship between maternal folic acid supplementation and reduction in preeclampsia risk.
