Macula vessel density and thickness in early primary open-angle glaucoma
American Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 25, 2019
Hou H, et al. - A total of 287 cases were studied to quantify and compare the ganglion cell complex (GCC) thickness and macula vessel density in preperimetric and early primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) eyes. They reported lower GCC thickness and vessel density in preperimetric and early POAG eyes as compared to healthy eyes. They found a greater loss in GCC thickness percent (whole image 4.72% vs 9.86%) but similar vessel density percent loss in early POAG group vs preperimetric POAG group. In early POAG, they noted larger GCC thickness percent loss than that of vessel density whereas both entities were similar in preperimetric POAG.
