Machine learning to predict the occurrence of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw associated with dental extraction: A preliminary report
Bone Apr 28, 2018
Kim DW, et al. - Authors sought to build and validate 5 types of machine learning models that could predict the occurrence of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) related to dental extraction in patients taking bisphosphonates for the management of osteoporosis. Compared to conventional statistical methods using drug holiday and serum CTX level, superior performance was demonstrated with machine learning methods in predicting BRONJ associated with dental extraction. Thus, in a wide range of clinical studies, machine learning could be applied.
