M2-macrophage infiltration and macrophage traits of tumor cells in urinary bladder cancer
Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Jan 11, 2018
Aljabery F, et al. - During this study, an exploration was carried out of the clinical importance of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in urinary bladder cancer (UBC). Findings illustrated a tendency for an inverse association between M2-specific macrophage infiltration (MI) with lymph node (LN) metastasis. An improvement was noted with regard to cancer-specific survival (CSS) in UBC. MI possibly exerted a protective impact in CD163-positive tumors. A prominent link was also disclosed between the expression of CD163 in cancer cells with MI and it could display a tumor-promoting impact.
