Low dose statins improve prognosis of ischemic stroke patients with intravenous thrombolysis
BMC Neurology Jun 12, 2021
Cui C, Li Y, Bao J, et al. - Because Asian stroke patients frequently take low-dose statins, researchers wanted to learn more about the relationship between low-dose statins combined with intravenous thrombolysis and the effects and safety outcomes of Asian ischaemic stroke patients. Data were prospectively gathered from consecutive acute ischaemic stroke patients with intravenous thrombolysis. Participants in the study were 215 patients (mean age: 70.92 ± 12.458 years). According to this prospective observational cohort study, low-dose statin use was related to National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale improvement at 7 days and inversely related to hospital haemorrhage and death events within 2 years in acute ischaemic stroke patients after intravenous thrombolysis, particularly in moderate stroke or noncardioembolic stroke patients.
