Long-term repeatability of optical coherence tomography angiography parameters in healthy eyes
Acta Ophthalmologica Jan 31, 2020
Lee MW, et al. - The long-term repeatability of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) parameters in normal eyes was determined. One hundred and four normal eyes were enrolled. Based on differences in the signal strength (SS) of OCTA scans obtained at two visits at least 6 months apart, the participants were divided into three groups: group 1, SS difference = 2; group 2, 1; group 3, 0. They determined a foveal centred scan area of 3 × 3 mm pattern. At the initial visit, they performed all measurements twice at 5-min intervals. At least 6 months later, the second measurements were undertaken. Outcomes revealed good short-term and reasonable long-term repeatability for optical coherence tomography angiography parameters in normal individuals. The differences in SSs between measurements influenced such repeatability, so they recommend physicians to inquire about the reliability of OCTA parameters when the differences in SS are 2 or more even when the SS is high.
