Long-term outcomes and secondary prevention after acute coronary events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Mantel A, et al. – The specialists attempted this work to evaluate long–term outcomes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) compared with non–RA patients with ACS and to determine whether the use of secondary preventive drugs could explain any differences in ACS outcome. Findings revealed that following ACS, patients with RA suffer from an increased risk of ACS recurrence and of death. However, this could not be explained by differences in usage of secondary preventive drugs.
