Long-term ophthalmic outcomes in pediatric orbital cellulitis: A prospective, multidisciplinary study from a tertiary-care referral institute
Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Oct 03, 2019
Singh M, et al. - In this prospective, interventional study, researchers examined the clinical profile, radiological characteristics, and ophthalmic outcomes of the multidisciplinary management of children with pediatric orbital cellulitis. At a mean age of 7.5 years, 40 patients had a unilateral presentation of pediatric orbital cellulitis. According to findings, the multidisciplinary management of pediatric orbital cellulitis offers adequate long-term ophthalmic results. Ethmoidal sinusitis is the most common etiology of pediatric orbital cellulitis, and endoscopic abscess drainage and functional endoscopic sinus surgery in children are minimally invasive and provide rapid relief. There were no life-threatening complications in any patient.
