Juloski J, et al. - This retrospective, longitudinal cohort study was performed to examine the long-term influence of fixed lingual retainers on the development of mandibular gingival recession and to compare the prevalence with untreated individuals. The authors concluded that long-term presence of fixed lingual retainers did not appear to increase the development of mandibular gingival recession, however, it increased calculus accumulation.
