Bernier MA, et al. - During the period 2006 to 2017 at the Costa del Sol Hospital (Marbella, Spain), researchers examined 537 candidates to evaluate the long-term effects of photodynamic therapy with methyl aminolevulinate in the management of Bowen's disease cases. They observed 88%, recurrence-free survival at 1 year and 71%, at 5 years. They also found an association of tumor size >300 mm2 (≥21 mm in diameter), its location in the upper extremities and subject's age <70 years with an enhanced risk of recurrence.
