Levels of interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 are elevated in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of haematological patients with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis
Mycoses Sep 15, 2017
Heldt S, et al. - A bundle of cytokines in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was comprehensively examined, in patients with and without invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA). A marked correlation was discovered between the levels of interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 with probable/proven IPA. There appeared to be a similar trend for serum IL-10. In order to identify the diagnostic potential of these cytokines for IPA, and to gauge the combinations with other IPA biomarkers/diagnostic tests, additional analyses were necessitated.
