Larger acetabular labrum is associated with hip dysplasia, joint incongruence, and clinical symptoms
Arthroscopy Jul 30, 2020
Kamenaga T, Hashimoto S, Hayashi S, et al. - This study was intended to assess the correlation of labral length with acetabular morphology and clinical symptoms. Between January 2015 and December 2018, individuals treated at the hip joint clinic were retrospectively included in the study. Researchers excluded individuals with osteoarthritis and/or osteonecrosis. They assessed bilateral labral length as the distance from the acetabular rim to the edge of the labrum at the level of the central coronal T1-weighted MRI scan cross-referenced to the axial plane (3- to 9-o'clock position). This study's findings demonstrate that acetabular labral length is significantly greater in dysplastic, irregularly congruent, symptomatic hips.
