Laparoscopic sacral colpopexy and a new approach to mesh fixation: A randomized clinical trial
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics Oct 13, 2018
Morciano A, et al. - In this prospective, randomized, double-blinded clinical trial, researchers assessed a new approach to vaginal-mesh fixation during laparoscopic sacral colpopexy (LSC) with continuous locked suture by analyzing the data of 90 patients with severe pelvic organ prolapse from January 2016 to April 2017. They found that laparoscopic continuous locked 3-0 absorbable suture for anterior and posterior mesh fixation during LSC was quicker and more effective vs multiple interrupted sutures. The authors suggested that the significant operative time reduction linked to this technique should be considered for complex surgeries like LSC.
