Is there an association of ABO blood groups and Rhesus factor with alopecia areata?
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Jan 24, 2018
Islamoglu ZGK, et al. - This research was executed in order to investigate the existence of a correlation between ABO blood groups and Rhesus factor with alopecia areata (AA). Data did not illustrate any link between ABO blood group and AA. However, a minor yet prominent variation was noted in the observed distribution of Rhesus blood group from that of the healthy cohort. A small but statistically marked difference was revealed in the Rh blood group between patients with AA and the healthy population blood groups. Owing to the discovery that genetic factors could affect the development of AA, this finding was proved to be significant.
