Is CD44 in glomerular parietal epithelial cells a pathological marker of renal function deterioration in primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis?

Froes BP, et al. – Authors of this study aspired to figure out whether CD44 immunostaining in glomerular parietal epithelial cells (PECs) was a prognostic marker in pediatric focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). As per their knowledge, this was the first study to indicate that positivity for CD44 in PECs seemed to be a pathological marker of renal function deterioration in pediatric patients with FSGS.
