Investigation of genetically regulated gene expression and response to treatment in rheumatoid arthritis highlights an association between IL18RAPexpression and treatment response
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Oct 20, 2020
Cherlin S, Lewis MJ, Plant D, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate if there was any relationship between genetically regulated gene expression (as predicted using various reference panels) and anti-tumour necrosis factor (anti-TNF) treatment response (change in erythrocyte sedimentation rate using 3,158 European ancestry patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers calculated a genetically regulated portion of gene expression in the full cohort of 3,158 individuals (as well as within a subcohort consisting of 1575 UK patients) applying the PrediXcan software package with three different reference panels. They evaluated estimated expression for the relationship with anti-TNF treatment response. The data imply that Interleukin 18 Receptor Accessory Protein expression is worthy of further evaluation as a potential prognosticator of treatment response in rheumatoid arthritis that is not specific to a particular drug type.
