Investigation of common risk factors between polycystic ovary syndrome and Alzheimer disease: A narrative review
Reproductive Health Jul 30, 2021
Sarahian N, Sarvazad H, Sajadi E, et al. - In this narrative review, researchers sought to summarize the possible pathways that may explain the association between Alzheimer’s and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Knowing and avoiding common risk factors may help to prevent neurodegenerative Alzheimer disease in the future. During this review, a comprehensive search of Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed, and the Web of Science (until February 01, 2021) was performed. According to the findings, the risk factors for Alzheimer's and PCOS may be similar. Increased LH to FSH ratio, decreased vitamin D, insulin resistance, and obesity are some of the most important factors that may increase the risk of Alzheimer disease in PCOS patients.
