Inverse association between dietary fiber intake and depression in premenopausal women: a nationwide population-based survey

Kim Y, Hong M, Kim S, et al. - Researchers used the Korea National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey data for 2014, 2016, and 2018 to determine whether and how dietary fiber intake is related to depression in women according to menopause status. They used the 24-hour recall method to calculate dietary fiber consumption. To evaluate depression, they employed Patient Health Questionnaire-9 scores. This analysis involved 5,807 females. In premenopausal women, findings demonstrated an inverse association of dietary fiber intake with depression, but not postmenopausal women.
