Intravenous brivaracetam in status epilepticus: A retrospective single-center study
Epilepsia Aug 03, 2018
Kalss G, et al.- Researchers explored if brivaracetam (BRV) is useful in treating of status epilepticus (SE). In patients with SE, treatment response and adverse events in adjunctive treatment with intravenous BRV were retrospectively assessed from January 2016 to July 2017 at their institution. Treatment with intravenous BRV was administered to 7 patients. Observations suggest the potential of BRV as a novel antiepileptic drug in early stages of SE, due to its favorable safety profile and ability to cross the blood-brain barrier faster than levetiracetam.
