Intravascular lobular capillary hemangioma (intravascular pyogenic granuloma): A clinicopathologic study of 40 cases
American Journal of Surgical Pathology Oct 25, 2020
Dermawan JK, et al. - The present study was conducted to examine all iobular capillary hemangioma cases from the institution confirmed pathologically from 2006 to 2019. Researchers conducted immunostains for smooth muscle actin and Wilms tumor 1 on all cases and prior immunohistochemical stains were explored. Researchers distinguished a total of 40 cases (22 females; 18 males) with a median age of 53 years (range: 13 to 85 y). This study’s findings demonstrate that mitotic activity and cytologic atypia, when present, can cause confusion with more aggressive vascular tumors. The data demonstrate that the recognition of this entity is necessary as it is a benign lesion with no risk of recurrence following limited local excision.
