Intracardiac electrocardiographic assessment of precordial TASER shocks in human subjects: A pilot study
Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine Sep 13, 2017
Stopyra JP, et al. - An illustration was pursued of the intra-shock electrocardiographic effects of an intentional transcardiac Conducted Electrical Weapon(CEW) discharge, in human subjects. The yielded data successfully navigated the regulatory hurdles and demonstrated the feasibility of performing intracardiac EKG recording during intentional precordial CEW discharges in humans. Though there were no CEW-related dysrhythmias, the size of this preliminary dataset precluded the formation of conclusions regarding the risk of such events. The comprehension of the CEW electrode position's changes, in terms of the cardiac silhouette, warranted advanced research.
