Interobserver and intraobserver reliability of cone-beam computed tomography in identification of apical periodontitis
Journal of Endodontics Mar 31, 2018
Barnett CW, et al. - The interobserver and intraobserver reliability were evaluated of cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) interpretation by observers from different specialties and different levels of experience when identifying periapical radiolucency (PARs) of various sizes in the case of apical periodontitis. Authors noted the overall Fleiss kappa coefficient for interobserver reliability and intraobserver reliability to be 0.88 and 0.85. The intraobserver reliability was increased by the increased experience level. For the interpretation of PAR, CBCT imaging appeared to be a reliable method. With larger PAR, the radiographic interpretation was noted to be more reliable.
