BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Apr 02, 2019
Bougie O, et al. - Via this systematic review, researchers examined how race/ethnicity influence the prevalence of endometriosis. They selected randomized control trials and observational studies that reported on the prevalence and/or on the clinical presentation of endometriosis via searching CENTRAL, Medline, PubMed, Embase, LILACS, SCIELO, and CINAHL databases, as well as the grey literature. Inclusion of 20 studies in the review was done and odds ratio (OR) with 95% CI were calculated using 18 studies through a random effects model. Evidence supports the influence of race/ethnicity on the prevalence of endometriosis. Compared to White women, endometriosis was less frequent among Black woman, but more frequent among Asian women.
