Influence of denture surface roughness and host factors on dental calculi formation on dentures: A cross-sectional study
BMC Oral Health May 12, 2018
Matsumura K, et al. - Authors assessed how patients use and manage their dentures, denture surface roughness, and host factors such as oral cavity dryness and saliva properties on denture cleanliness and denture dental calculi formation to clarify the strength of the influence of each factor. Results demonstrated that how dentures are used and managed and denture surface roughness, but not oral cavity dryness and saliva properties influenced the dental calculi formation. In the positive for dental calculi (DCP) group, the surface roughness was significantly greater, and significantly more often dentures were worn during sleep by the DCP group and when storing their dentures, this group used a denture cleaner significantly less often.
