Zerbini A, et al. Â In this study, the authors presented the hypothesis that interleukin-22 (IL-22) might be induced in giant cell arteritis (GCA) and might be involved in disease pathogenesis. They explained that in patients with GCA, IL-22 was increased and affected the viability and gene expression of arterial cells. These findings indicated its potential role in the disease pathogenesis.
