Incidence of and risk factors for secondary ocular hypertension in moderate to severe infectious ulcerative keratitis
Clinical Ophthalmology Nov 01, 2018
Sakiyalak D, et al. - In patients with moderate to severe infectious ulcerative keratitis, researchers gauged the incidence of and risk factors for secondary ocular hypertension (OHT). They also assessed the long-term outcome of patients with secondary OHT. Findings suggested an association of moderate to severe infectious keratitis with a high incidence of secondary OHT. Severe corneal infiltration and severe intraocular inflammation were the two main risk factors. Persistent elevated IOP developed in one-third of the patients with OHT after keratitis was healed. They noted a significant association of older age and hyperosmotic agents used during active keratitis with persistent elevated IOP. Moreover, there was an association of older age with poorer visual outcome.
