Incidence and management of symptomatic dry eye related to LASIK for myopia, with topical cyclosporine A
Clinical Ophthalmology Mar 31, 2019
Kanellopoulos AJ - Researchers studied the incidence of transient dry eye correlated with LASIK for myopia and also the effectiveness of topical cyclosporine A administration. They observed Schirmer’s test mean preoperative value, 4.5±3.6 mm at 1-month post-LASIK. They observed the mean preoperative Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) scores, 11.47±9.97 for cases and 11.79±10.31 for controls, which improved to 23.03±10.17 and 15.13±9.49 at 12 months postoperatively, respectively. They recommended topical cyclosporine A treatment, an effective option in the management of LASIK for myopia-related transient dry eye. They suggested optical coherence tomography epithelial mapping, a benchmark in the diagnosis and monitoring the disorder along with its relationship with visual symptoms.
