Improving estimates of annual survival rates for medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, a meta-analysis
Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 08, 2019
Heaps BM, et al. - In this meta-analysis, researchers provided pooled estimates of medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (mUKA), an increasingly popular treatment option for medial compartment knee osteoarthritis, survival 5 and 10 years postoperatively. Over the past 15 years, they have included English studies with a clear description of mUKA failure. Twenty-six studies, representing 42,791 knees, met inclusion criteria. Data reported that 5- and 10-year pooled mUKA survival estimates were 95.3% and 91.3%, respectively. These data provide better estimates of mUKA survival and can help in counselling mUKA patients.
