Improvement capability and performance: A qualitative study of maternity services providers in the UK
International Journal for Quality in Health Care Apr 19, 2018
Darley S, et al. - Researchers perform an exploration focusing on the variations in service performance and quality improvement across healthcare organizations using the concept of improvement capability. They draw upon a theoretically informed framework comprising eight dimensions of improvement capability, firstly to describe and compare quality improvement within healthcare organizations and, secondly to investigate the interactions between organizational performance and improvement capability. As per observations, healthcare organizations using the improvement capability framework can assess, manage and develop their own improvement capabilities. An interaction between performance and improvement capability was noted; higher performing organizations seemed to have more developed improvement capabilities.
