Improved insulin sensitivity and secretion in pre-diabetic patients with adrenal insufficiency on dual-release hydrocortisone treatment: A 36-month retrospective analysis

Guarnotta V, et al. - The effects of dual-release hydrocortisone (DR-HC) on insulin secretion and sensitivity and cardio metabolic risk were evaluated, indirectly expressed by the visceral adiposity index (VAI). In patients with pre-diabetes, long-term DR-HC therapy was correlated with an improvement in insulin secretion and sensitivity. However, in terms of improvement of metabolic and anthropometric parameters, all patients appeared to benefit from the treatment.
