Improved haemodynamic stability and cerebral tissue oxygenation after induction of anaesthesia with sufentanil compared to remifentanil: A randomised controlled trial
BMC Anesthesiology Oct 21, 2020
Poterman M, Kalmar AF, Buisman PL, et al. - In this double blinded randomized controlled trial, experts aspired to explore whether induction with propofol-sufentanil results in higher cardiac index (CI) and tissue-oxygenation than with propofol-remifentanil and whether atropine has more pronounced beneficial effects on CI and tissue-oxygenation in a remifentanil-based anaesthesia. In total, 70 patients were involved and subsequently allocated to the sufentanil or remifentanil group. Induction of propofol and sufentanil anaesthesia results in better haemodynamic stability and greater SctO2 in patients with coronary bypass grafting compared with propofol and remifentanil. It may be beneficial to administer atropine to mitigate or avoid the haemodynamic suppression associated with these opioids.
