Similä T, et al. - Experts attempted to study the relationship of impaired glucose metabolism with tooth loss in adults in the Northern Finland Birth Cohort Study 1966 (NFBC1966). Four thousand, three hundred ninety-four participants from the 46-year follow-up of the NFBC1966 were examined. The findings from the present study suggested that the number of teeth associated with oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) insulin and glucose curves as well as with the Matsuda index in both women and men. In middle-aged Finnish women, tooth loss strongly correlated with impaired glucose metabolism.
