Impact of strength and nature of patient health values on compliance and outcomes for physiotherapy treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction
Urology Nov 28, 2019
Reed P, et al. - In this prospective observational study carried out in a physiotherapy clinic in the urogynaecological outpatients unit of a hospital (n = 218 people), experts ascertained whether patient values impact on compliance and outcome for physiotherapy treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction. The intensity of patient health-related values estimated by the Personal Values Questionnaire notably prognosticated compliance with the intervention, however, the nature of health value (intrinsically-valued, as opposed to externally-controlled) prognosticated the objective outcome. Thus, patient values influence on physiotherapy adherence and outcomes and could be acknowledged as part of future evaluation/screening procedures.
