Impact of perioperative liver dysfunction on in-hospital mortality and long-term survival in infective endocarditis patients
Infection Sep 04, 2017
Diab M, et al. – Authors performed a retrospective, single–center analysis to assess the impact of perioperative liver dysfunction (LD) on in–hospital mortality and long–term survival in Infective endocarditis (IE) patients. Perioperative liver dysfunction in patients with infective endocarditis was identified as an independent predictor of short– and long–term mortalities. After surviving the hospital stay, 5–year prognosis was not different and quality of life was not affected by LD. They suggested S. aureus and duration of cardiopulmonary bypass as risk factors for postoperative LD.
