Impact of glycaemic control on fracture risk in 5368 people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes: A time-dependent analysis
Diabetic Medicine Mar 15, 2019
Thayakaran R, et al. - In people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes, researchers ascertained if glycemic control was correlated with a lifelong higher risk of fracture. The Health Improvement Network database identified people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes between January 1, 1995 and May 10, 2016. There were 5,368 people included with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. Findings revealed that the estimated adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) for HbA1c was statistically significant. An association was found between higher HbA1c and an increased risk for fractures in people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes.
