Impact of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with hip fractures
Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma Dec 23, 2018
Bruckbauer M, et al. - In this retrospective cohort analysis, 320 participants (age 65 years or older) with isolated hip fractures (HFs) were analyzed to estimate the influence of direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) intake compared with Coumadin (COU) in cases suffered from HF. They observed a higher Charlson Comorbidity Index in subjects on COU and DOACs, a significantly shorter time to surgery in without any antithrombotic therapy (no-ATT) group when compared with DOAC participants with no difference in postoperative hemorrhage, intensive care unit length of stay, and mortality was noted between the groups.
