Impact of different glycaemic treatment targets on pregnancy outcomes in gestational diabetes
Diabetic Medicine Aug 17, 2018
Abell SK, et al. - In this cohort study, researchers examined the impact of tight compared with standard treatment targets on pregnancy outcomes in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) via conducting singleton births ≥ 28 weeks’ gestation at two major Australian maternity services (2009–2013). Findings suggested an association of tight GDM treatment targets with greater insulin use and no difference in primary birthweight outcomes. It was observed that the service with tight targets had a higher obstetric intervention, lower rates of reported hypoglycaemia, jaundice, respiratory distress and lower Apgar scores.
