Immunopathology of Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease: A reappraisal using novel immunohistochemistry combinations

Histopathology Dec 26, 2019

Sukswai N, Jung HR, Amr SS, et al. - Through Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) used immunohistochemistry, researchers reappraised the microanatomic distribution of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), follicular helper T-cells and cytotoxic T-cells, B-cells, follicular dendritic cell (FDC) meshworks, and histiocytes in lymph nodes were included in order to evaluate the immunohistologic characteristics of KFD (n = 138), and most reports used limited antibody panels that required several novel immunohistochemistry markers up to date available. The study group comprised of 138 KFD individuals. It was discovered that the immunohistologic landscape of KFD was complicated and identified by raised numbers of pDCs that often gather around apoptotic/necrotic foci, elevated cytotoxic T-cells, and substantial distortion of FDC meshworks.
