Identification of high-risk groups for complication after arthroplasty: Predictive value of patient’s related risk factors
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Jan 04, 2019
Castano-Betancourt MC, et al. - Investigators assessed 1150 beneficiaries of total joint arthroplasty (TJA) to identify the groups at higher risk of infections and mechanical complications after TJA in cases with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA) based on their most significant predicting determinants. They observed more frequent complications in individuals with RA. Use of corticosteroids and former comorbidities like respiratory disease, infections, diabetes, anemia, mental and musculoskeletal comorbidities were discerned as the predictors of infections and mechanical complications.
