Identification of α-enolase as a prognostic and diagnostic precancer biomarker in oral submucous fibrosis
Journal of Clinical Pathology Aug 24, 2017
Bag S, et al. – The objective here was to determine the proteomic signatures from biopsies that could be used as precancer diagnostic marker for patients suffering from oral submucous fibrosis (OSF). The findings identified and validated α–enolase as a novel biomarker for the initial diagnosis of malignant potentiality of OSF. The α–enolase could assist in early therapeutic intervention of OSF patients, which would cause a reduction of patientÂs pain, therapeutic cost and enhancement of patientÂs quality of life.
