How much does household food insecurity explain income inequalities in untreated dental caries?
International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry Feb 20, 2019
Ferreira FM, et al. - In this population-based study, 466 subjects of age 12 years were analyzed to estimate the influence of correlation between untreated dental caries and income disparities on household food insecurity (HFI). They calculated HFI, using the Food Insecurity Scale validated for Brazilian Portuguese. They recorded a higher prevalence of dental caries among kids from families with a per capita household income lower than US$ 71. Overall, 14% of the association between a low income and dental caries was also described by HFI.
