How common are acromial and scapular spine fractures after reverse shoulder arthroplasty?
The Bone & Joint Journal Jun 07, 2019
King JJ, et al. - Researchers conducted a systematic review using PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases evaluating the incidence of acromial and scapular spine fractures following reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). Out of 686 identified articles, they included 90 articles after exclusions in this review. Analysis revealed acromial and/or scapular spine fractures incidence of 2.8% (253/9048 RSAs). Following primary vs revision arthroplasty, a slightly higher incidence was observed. Also, RSA performed for inflammatory arthritis and in the lateralized glenoid design led to higher rates of acromial fractures.
