Histopathologic features that predict transplant glomerulopathy progression in a Chinese cohort
American Journal of Nephrology Apr 20, 2019
Li X, et al. - In this study performed on a single-center retrospective cohort with biopsy-proven transplant glomerulopathy (TG), researchers used Cox proportional hazards models to investigate the extent to which histopathologic features could predict prognostication. Using Banff 2017, scoring of renal biopsies was performed. Return to dialysis or estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decreased to <15 mL/min/1.73 m2 defined death-censored graft failure (primary outcome). A total of 180 cases followed for a median duration of 5.0 (2.6–8.2) years were included. In TG patients, unfavorable allograft prognosis was predicted by severe ci + ct and cg at biopsy, even following taking into account clinical features. Findings revealed a significant association of histologic severity of cg and g + ptc, with clinical proteinuria.
