High titers of thyrotropin receptor antibodies are associated with orbitopathy in patients with Graves’ disease

Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Feb 15, 2019

Kahaly GJ, et al. - In this controlled, follow-up study, researchers intended to distinguish between Graves’ thyroidal disease only (GD) and Graves’ thyroidal and orbital disease (GD+GO). Study participants included 60 patients with GD, GD+GO and controls. The findings from the present study suggested that thyrotropin receptor autoantibody (TSH-R-Ab) titers, as determined by dilution analysis, distinguish significantly between GD and GD+GO.
