High tibial slope correlates with increased posterior tibial translation in healthy knees
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy Sep 14, 2017
Schatka I, et al. - A link between increased tibial slope (TS) and decreased posterior tibial translation (PTT) in healthy knees was hypothesized. This current study demonstrates a significant correlation between high tibial slope and increased posterior tibial translation, in addition to the substantial variance in tibial slope and posterior laxity among healthy knees. Additionally, a further association of increasing age with a greater magnitude of posterior tibial translation was observed. Researchers concluded that knowledge of the tibial slope facilitates simple estimation of posterior knee laxity, which is mandatory for PCL reconstruction and knee arthroplasty.
