Sasaki S - In patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild Alzheimer's disease (AD), researchers studied the prevalence of the coexistence of parkinsonism. Using the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale–III and ¹²³I-FP-CIT dopamine transporter SPECT, parkinsonism in patients diagnosed with MCI or mild AD was investigated. Study participants were 106 patients aged 60 to 97 years. In MCI or mild AD, the prevalence rate of the coexistence of mild parkinsonism might be higher than previously recognized.
